The European Hernia Society ( EHS) meetings truly bring together the best minds in the world—from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. It is one platform where you meet the real-life heroes of hernia surgery, the pioneers who have actually invented and refined the procedures we practice every day.
EHS 2025 in Paris, held in June 2025, was one such unforgettable experience for me.
I was absolutely elated to learn that the academic committee had selected eight of my surgical videos for the congress, with inclusion in the permanent EHS video library, along with a podium presentation for "Robotic Pauli Repair for a concomitant huge parastomal and midline incisional hernia".
It was a dream come true to have so many presentations accepted at a single conference, each video focusing on a different technique/region/type of hernia.
The conference was an incredible opportunity to learn from stalwarts in the field, exchange ideas, and meet my mentors and heroes in flesh and blood —Todd Heniford, Yuri Novitsky, Jorge Daes, Igor Belyansky, MD, FACS, Miguel Ángel García Ureña,
@Dr Conrad Ballecer, Flavio Malcher, @Dr David chen @Dr David Lourie, & many more, .. the very people who have transformed herniology and AWR with their discoveries and innovations over the past two decades.
Every interaction reinforced how much innovation, collaboration, and humility drive this specialty forward.
Feeling inspired and energised to continue contributing, learning, and pushing boundaries in AWR and robotic hernia surgery.
